As we neared Queen Charlotte Sound again, a weather system roughed up the Sound for several days and, as we had done in heading north, we prudently waited it out. This "hold", in Rescue Bay off Mathieson Channel, was quite different from our week-long stay in Port Hardy, BC. This time there were no cell connections, no wifi, no radio, and practically nobody but us. But there were wonderful, warm, sunny days, a beautiful bay, and a most entertaining and social group of seals to watch. Here's how we passed our time…off the grid:
| This is pretty Rescue Bay, our home for 4 days. |
We did the obvious, read and read and read. Here, Ross has
a le Carre going on his Kindle and I'm into a Grisham on my iPad. |
| We exercised in Molly Claire's gym. Here's Ross on the Stairmaster. |
| And I'm doing push-ups…OK, modified push-ups. |
We staged a 4-day gin rummy tournament. Ross had me soundly
beaten, but I rallied on the last few hands to make it a respectable defeat. |
I baked some bread in Molly Claire's cozy galley -
smelled good and the oven heat was welcome. |
| We watched a few movies. Some of you may recognize this classic. |
| We did get off the Molly Claire - here using our new inflatable kayak. |
| Ross doing his version of getting exercise on shore. |
| …and me stroking away, sort of, on the kayak. |
| This guy was as interested in us as we were in him/her. |

| …and we drank a gallon or two of coffee and covered a myriad of topics. |
Full disclosure, some of these pictures are reenactments.
