Home Again - The Final Leg

Our final leg included visits to both new places and old favorites.  We spent a number of days in the Broughton Islands, a first for us, renavigated the five rapids north of Desolation Sound and passed briefly through Desolation Sound, our previous northern-most destination.  We recrossed the Strait of Georgia which became unexpectedly exciting when it "breezed up" with 25 knot winds.  Yikes!  Then we made a "soft reentry" by spending our final nights of the cruise in two of our favorite anchorages, the north side of Montague Harbor in the Canadian Gulf Islands and in Shallow Bay on Sucia Island in the San Juans.  Here are the pics:

The Broughtons had many pretty passages...
…and some dramatic ones.
Lacy Falls, prettiest in the Broughtons
Colorful granite, Broughton Islands
The Broughtons have many friendly little marinas.
We had a nice stay at the rustic Kwatsi Bay Marina.

Another hillside scar in the Broughtons - this one man made.
Leaving the Broughtons, Tribune Channel
We made a short run on notoriously choppy Johnstone Strait.
We waited for a slack tide at Whirlpool Rapids in pretty Forward Harbor.
Spotted these two beach combers along Chancellor Channel.
Also in Chancellor Channel, a log boom being towed by …
... the forthright, resolute little Yucata.  We came across
Yucata and her tow four different times as we cruised south.
Sparkling morning in Cordero Channel just north of Desolation Sound.
The "Gorge" at Gorge Harbor, Cortes Island, Desolation Sound.

Georgia Strait "breezes up".  Even the fly bridge took a little spray.
